CLASS SONG

Tune:  "Tenderly"

The years are through and, we'll miss you Wilson High
School days will be just memories by and by.
The friends we all know and teachers we love
We'll always remember, too
We won't forget the joys we've met through the years
Our thoughts of you will never fade like our tears.
When new lives we meet, with pride we'll repeat
In gratitude, we sing to you dear Wilson High.

"Gee, did I look like that?"
Do you remember those first school day pictures?Weren't they terrific? We were 8B's when they were taken. All of us used to rush through a crowd of unknown upper classmen, searching desperately for our next class. Remember those six weeks of art when we spent most of the time admiring Ralph Cowan's work, and our music class where we learned the Alma Mater?

In our Freshman year, when we were rats, we were separated, but it gave us wonderful opportunities to meet new people and see some of our old friends. We were truly a part of Wilson that year, for we participated in Wilson's second homecoming.

Our Sophomore year came upon us quickly. We were practically grown, and our boys were playing Junior Varsity sports. How proud we were of them!
We were feeling pretty big when we became Juniors. The boys had advanced to the Varsity teams, and several from our class were on the Student Council.

The big day finally arrived when we ordered our class rings. Our knuckles were bruised from taking them off and putting them on so much. Wasn't it a wonderful feeling to be Seniors as last?
What a wonderful Baby Day we had! All of the girls were wearing ruffled dresses, trying to hold a doll and camera while dodging the boys who were armed with water guns and all day suckers. The next night at the Baby Dance everyone had fun, and then our own Doris Jones was judged the cutest baby girl!

All of us were thrilled when the night of the Prom arrived. The gym was beautifully decorated in silver and blue, and made a perfect background for the formals and dinner jackets. In one corner stood a huge moon where we officially recieved our rings in the Ring Dance.
September rolled around, and we came back from vacation as "mighty 4B's". We started making plans almost immediatly for graduation. We voted on statistics, and posed for pictures. Everyone got busy and ordered extra announcements, calling cards, and caps and gowns.

Excitement was high as graduation week arrived. The class play, "We Shook The Family Tree", under Mrs. Wilda Oakley's direction was a success. Our class advisor, Mrs. Betty Blanford, was as excited as we, and finally  graduation. None of us will ever forget how the class looked  the boys in dark blue gowns, and the girls in white. Our names were called; we recieved our cherished diplomas and, after singing our Alma Mater, we filed out of the Auditorium as the February class of 1953.

FEBRUARY CLASS YEAR SUMMARY

When we finally assumed the responsibilities of Seniors, we realized that the most exciting year of school was still before us. We began by electing a very capable slate of officers led by our President, LouIse Johnson. Ted Schneider served as Vice President, Jim Bob Driver as Boys' Treasurer, Ann Ray as Girls' Treasurer, Mary Lee Hall as Secretary, and Doris Jones as our Representative to the Student Council.

Before we knew it, Baby Day and the Junior-Senior Prom were over, and we were 4B's ordering our announcements and calling cards, measuring for caps and gowns, choosing statistics, writing bibliographies, and trying out for the class play which was directed by Mrs. Wilda Oakley.

Our Class advisor, Mrs. Betty Blanford, helped us very much as graduation approached. In the exciting graduation week, we had our Baccalaureate Service, Banquet at the Suburban Country Club, and presented our play, "We Shook the Family Tree". The big night soon arrived, and we marched forward to recieve those hard-earned diplomas, the girls in white gowns, the boys in blue
.
Each of us knew exactly what we had achieved as we walked away from our high school days and into what ~ the future held for us ~ different and greater achievements.
